During the month of December, 6 new people made the decision to accept Jesus Christ and began the discipleship process. Counting these new believers, the project now has 66 participants in various stages of the discipleship process, from brand-new converts to more mature followers of Christ. Exciting advances in leadership development were clearly seen this month, when the Comunidades de Shalom staff went on vacation and the local leaders took the initiative to take charge of their own churches. Services took place without interruption when before, if for some reason the Comunidades de Shalom staff could not be present, services were cancelled until they were able to return. Another cause for celebration in Comunidades de Shalom is that a new house church was planted which has now begun to have weekly services. Counting the new church, this brings to total up to 5 altogether. Also in December the process of planting 2 more was started, which consists of going into a new neighborhood (colony), look for who might be open and willing to host a new house church, meet with them and talk with them about the process, as well as look for and begin to invite potential new members. Currently the project has an average of 84 people who regularly participate in a faith community to receive teaching, prayer and fellowship with other believers. It is exciting to see the project’s growth during the monthly celebration, where all the Comunidades de Shalom churches come together to celebrate God, fellowship and break bread together. We believe that the Comunidades de Shalom project is so important because there is no other church in the community that has a focus on teaching people about studying the Bible. Also, we have a ministry and an internal healing focus that the community really needs.
