ConeXión Mosaico’s supporters poured out their love and generosity towards the flood victims in Guerrero! Thanks to their support, ConeXión Mosaico and our partners were able to carry out many important relief activities during our week-long assistance brigade in October.
ConeXión Mosaico’s overall goal for the campaign was to provide medical and dental attention to residents of those areas hardest hit by tropical storms Manuel and Ingrid. We were particularly concerned about the more remote communities who had not received medical attention from any other relief efforts. In order to have a greater impact, we combined forces with Operation Blessing Mexico, some local doctors and the Autonomous University of Guerrero’s faculty of medicine.
During the 5 day campaign, the team visited 6 communities and provided medical attention to a total of 566 people. In addition to ConeXión Mosaico and Operation Blessing staff, there were 5 doctors, 3 nurses and 2 dentists on the team. The doctors provided medical exams to 396 people, which translated to seeing roughly 79 patients each day. The dentists had set a goal of seeing 25 patients per day, which they exceeded by seeing 170 total patients for an average of 34 exams daily.
The medicine left over at the end of the campaign was inventoried and distributed between Operation Blessing and the University of Guerrero, to continue to be distributed in the affected communities after the team was gone. In addition, we supported a pastor who had been working to provide food assistance to the affected communities with a donation to provide food for approximately 250 people.
